With significant power required to operate its manufacturing processes, Massey Feeds energy requirements are a significant cost to the business. Starting with the Preston site Massey saw the opportunity to reduce their energy costs and reinvest in products and services.
The OS Gen solution at the Preston site has been operating since September 2021 with Holmes Chapel from June 2022.
OS Gen undertook a detailed assessment of annual electricity demand at both sites and installed a 2 x 250kW generators with supporting controls at each location. The two units provide added redundancy and the configuration allows for each site to continue to scale up as demand increases with both sites having the potenetial for further units.
OS Gen covered the capital cost of the generators, the installation, and the ongoing cost of service and maintenance over the lifetime of the partnership. The electricity generated is charged back to Massey Feeds at a discounted rate set against the prevailing rates set by the current utility providers in the form of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
