OS Gen's roadmap towards a greener future
OS Gen have implemented a roadmap to reduce the carbon emissions associated with the business according to the GHG Scope 1-3 categories.
Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from owned or controlled sources. These are the on-site generation solutions that we own and manage on our clients’ sites.
Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy.
Scope 3 emissions are all indirect emissions (not included in scope 2) that occur in the value chain of the reporting company, including both upstream and downstream emissions.
Phase 1 of our roadmap has been focused on those elements of Scope 1 to 3 where our on-site solutions carbon footprint can be calculated and offset through our Sustainability programmes.
Over the lifetime of our agreement with our clients the programmes are designed to achieve net zero for all the energy generated.
OS Gen Programmes
OS Gen have partnered with a local Indian based business located in the Chennai region.
By funding and installing solar powered refrigerated containers in remote farming areas in the region, farmer’s crops no longer perish before arriving in towns and cities.
These refrigerated containers provide two key benefits, 1) a low carbon alternative to costly storage and transportation costs and 2) a humanitarian benefit to some of the poorest people in India by ensuring that their produce is protected and their financial position improved.
International Offset Programmes
OS Gen invest in programmes primarily in East Africa which are accredited by organisations including Verra and adhere to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) criteria for projects.
The UN SDG goals are: ‘to recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests’. https://sdgs.un.org/goals
