Barrow Park Leisure Centre boasts an Olympic 25m pool, leisure pool, gym and sports hall.
As a not for profit organisation focused on community activity and wellbeing, all ‘back office’ costs that could be reduced meant more investment in front line services – people, equipment and community projects.
Barrow Park was selected as the ideal facility to install on-site generation technology and benefit from cheaper electricity and heat, while avoiding the need to allocate valuable capital to purchase the solution. The site has been operating since September 2020.
OS Gen undertook a detailed assessment of annual electricity and heat demand and sized a 100kW CHP with supporting controls.
OS Gen covered the capital cost of the CHP, the Installation, and the ongoing cost of Service and Maintenance over the lifetime of the partnership.
The energy generated is charged back to Barrow Park at a discounted rate against the prevailing rates set by the current utility providers for electricity and gas in the form of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
