Client Update: OS Gen-funded upgrade at The Hertfordshire Golf and Country Club

OS Generation Group, the leading sustainable energy company focussed on on-site energy generation for the leisure and hospitality sector, has recently committed to a significant upgrade on their Combined Heat and Power (CHP) solution at The Hertfordshire Golf and Country Club to cater for business expansion and a resulting increase in energy demands.

The installation of the current system took place back in 2020, and due to the proactive monitoring and observations from OS Generation Group throughout the last 12 months, they identified an opportunity to support the Club by upgrading their existing 50kW CHP system, to a more powerful 100kW CHP unit – at no capital cost to the client. This means OS Gen will now be supplying 650,000kW of low carbon power and 800,000kW low carbon heat annually.

Within the grounds of the lakes and forests at the club is the 18th Century Broxbournebury Mansion, which overlooks the stunning golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus II, there is a well-designed and discreet structure housing the CHP unit. In addition to the 18-hole golf course, there is a spectacular spa housing a 16.7m swimming pool, a hydro pool, steam room, gym, restaurant and bar.

This OS Gen fully funded upgrade will supply low carbon energy to the building and leisure facilities and will include a planned increase in EV chargers for Electric car owners who visit the club. Future installation of Battery Storage and Solar will provide an integrated solution that will deliver low carbon efficient, on-site energy generation for the club.

Peter Copping, General Manager of The Hertfordshire Golf and Country Club said,

OS Gen provided an upgraded CHP solution that addressed our increasing facility energy needs for Power and Heat. The evaluation from the OS Gen team and the resulting upgrade means the solution provided will more than double the savings we already realise and with no capital or ongoing service and maintenance costs this was an easy decision.”

Andrew Crowley, co-founder of OS Generation Group said,

This upgrade shows once again OS Gen’s long-term investment and partnership approach by being at the forefront of evolving energy technology innovations and monitoring this alongside our clients’ needs. By being flexible in our approach and covering the cost of the upgrade, we can provide them with a longer-term solution that is financially and environmentally more impactful.”
