New Client Announcement: DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham signs 10-year CHP contract

OS Generation Group, the leading sustainable energy company focussed on on-site energy generation for the leisure and hospitality sector, has signed a 10-year contract with DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham for a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) solution at the 152-room hotel and leisure facility.

Mixing contemporary luxury with Georgian aesthetics, the manor house is two miles from the regency town of Cheltenham. The full-service spa hotel incudes an indoor pool, steam room, sauna and hot tub – all of which contribute to the hotel’s high energy demands.

The site itself is managed by Michels & Taylors (M&T), who are responsible for optimising the commercial success of a portfolio of quality hotels and leisure facilities across the UK.  Following OS Generation Group’s successful installation of a CHP solution at one of their other properties last year (The Abbey Hotel in Redditch), a joint analysis with M&T of the site’s current and future energy consumption requirements was conducted. As a result, a recommendation with on-site generation options was proposed to balance cost and carbon savings.

Based on the recommendation to install a 100kW CHP at the site, it is forecasted that OS Gen’s CHP solution will deliver savings in the region of £30,000 per annum on energy costs and save over 90 tonnes of carbon per annum. The CHP will deliver circa 580,000kW and 680,000kW of low carbon electricity and heat to the facility.

Future technology plans for the facility include Solar PV and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) to maximise the generation and storage of low cost, low carbon energy.

Andrew Crowley, co-founder of OS Generation Group said,

Following a thorough site review and a review of current energy spend, we put together a compelling business case for CHP, a proven solution that has demonstrated remarkable results at one of M&T’s sister properties, all with no CapEx or ongoing OpEx required by the client.
